Bye Bye Best Year Ever!

2008 has been one of the best. For alot of reasons. The biggest thing about this year is the stuff I've learnt about myself, followed by the experiences I've encountered. Nothing beats figuring things out for yourself through all the crap life puts you through, because at the end of the day you learn to love yourself for it.

What's life without tests? Without risks? That's what I've learnt. That was my 2008.

I am looking ahead, but never forgetting to remember.
Happy 2009 everybody!

Snippets of My Fortnight

I am effin exhausted! Zoh seriously, packed holidays are not for me. I'm more of a do whatever i want when i want it kind of holiday person. I like to relax when i'm holiday-ing. What's the point of a vacation when you're rushing more than you do in your daily life. Not to mention Korean Air sucks. 17 hours of flight in two days might not have been such a pain if a number of things were different, which i shall refrain from listing them out because i do not want to be mean to the airline and the people and the place.

Ok now that i am done ranting, I will turn myself into a cheerful person, because really, my trip was awesome!:):):) Mostly because of Hawaii. Korea was good too, especially the food, but because I've been there before and am not really that into the country, Hawaii was more oooh-aaah for me.

Because I am not a very hardworking blogger, I will put up exactly 10 pictures of my trip. Hehe.

Though i ate korean food for 3 meals a day for 6 days, i didn't die of boredom because i loved it:) korean food is awesome. kimchi grows on me.

Happy candid shot taken by Dad. Korean people sleep on floors. I don't enjoy it.

Skiing with the family. My brother and I took up snowboarding this trip but I didn't really like it. I returned to skiing shortly after:) My brother really liked boarding though, and he was really good at it.

We went on the trip with a bunch of friends. All 27 of us I think.

After six days, we flew across the Pacific to the island of O'ahu, Hawaii. In true Hawaiian fashion, Michele is wearing flowers and sipping her drink out of a pineapple at a hawaiian luau:):)

Pearl Harbour:)

Dinner on Christmas Eve. So our tourguide said that its some kind of Hawaiian tradition for women to wear a flower i their hair instead of rings to symbolise their status. Wearing it on the right side means that she is available whereas left means unavailable. Whatever, i would have worn it on the left side anyway, because my fringe is on the left. Haha that makes more sense right right:)

Waikiki Beach is beauuuutiful. I have so many pretty pictures of it which I may put it up someday, depending on my happiness. Haha. Oh oh and i dipped my legs into the pacific ocean. Yay me:):)

This is the Pali Lookout. It had the strongest wind i have ever felt in my whole entire life. If you were anorexically skinny you would probably blow away.

A Hawaiian Christmas card of the Lim family:)

Toodles!

Caitlin Kang Will Be Bloated With Glee After This

*cue sweet, touching music*

To the girl who has been there for me throughout the year,

Don't you think I'll ever forget those those times.

The times you panic for no reason, call me up just 'cause you're bored, let me call you up just 'cause I'm bored, annoy me with your OCDness, enlighten me with our heart-to-hearts, made me the card with pretty quotes, gave me an origami rose for my birthday, make me soup, cook me dinner, prepare steak and invite random people:), see me through my emoness, laugh with me, go through painful times with me, give in to being dragged to Big Mama for lunch, let me steal your chocolates and ponder over true love.

So here it is.

From Michele

To Caitlin:

HAPPY 18th BIRTHDAY!

ILOVEYOU:)

Distance

Reason No.24 ... because even when you're just at the other end of the room, you're too far away.

I Can't Keep My Hands Off The Cookie Jar

I love this cookie jar song by gym class heroes. Plus it reflects the fact that i feel fat yet i can't help eating so much of the yummy penang food.

Penang is hot! sticky sticky weather irritates me. Anyhoos, nothing can burst my bubble. Although we learnt it in psychology that the adaptation level principle makes us humans adapt to good news and we become less happy about good stuff after awhile, i still smile inside when i think of melbourne uni. Thank you to my babes sherlyn and eevon for putting up with me freaking out the whole of thursday afternoon.

This week has basically been all about eating all my long-awaited penang food and seeing some of the people that I haven't seen in 6 months. I've missed all of you! Oh this year is coming to an end! Like i was just thinking about it, I'll be leaving for my trip in 4 days, then when i come back it'll be 30th Dec. Then New Years Eve. Then 2009! Zomg. 2009. Yuck I'll be nineteen. I don't like that number. Nineteen is like being stuck in the middle of nowhere. Sorry, I'm just being bitter. It's okay. Its been an awesome awesome year.

Some of my Penang moments this week.

Pancakes! I love pancakes. Lunch with Sher and Eevon.

Just like old times:)

Tennis:):) Finally, after a 6 month absence.

My now almost-grown-up-but-not-really brother.

Yummy dinner and catch up session.

Oh before i say toodles, good luck to my darling Sher Lyn for your exams this week. Love you for spending time with me even though it was your study week. Teehee sorry that it was depressing listening to me and eevon talk about that topic:)

Love you!

Back

Back to movable shower heads rather than stationary, low-pressured ones.
Back to sitting in cars rather than in trams.
Back to RM3.50 noodles, not $10.00 ones.
Back to a queen-sized bed, not a single.
Back to having my laundry and dishes done for me.
Back to a high-powered hair dryer rather than a small portable one.
Back to the voices of hokkien dialogue instead of aussie accents.
Back to using Wifi for internet connection.
Back to a walk-in wardrobe and full-length mirrors.
Back to the sounds of parental nagging, lecturing and pestering.
Back to a brother who annoys me yet i wouldn't have it any other way.
Back to the tennis court.
Back to roti canai for breakfast instead of cereal.
Back to a bedroom with pink wallpaper, not painted in boring beige.
Back to Astro and all of its million and one channels.
Back to people who've watched me grow up, whom i've known for a long time.

These are the things i've grown to miss while away.

But I miss Melbourne. But i'm Home:)
