Just like a dream, you are not what you seem

BIRTHDAY POST!

This year, my 20th birthday, was one heck of a day. It was a Friday, so I still had lectures and dance rehearsals going on, and within all that, I managed to slot in a party.

The night before, my friend's broke the conventional and decided to surprise me in the toilet. Hah. After dance rehearsal, Sha was all "Omg I really need to pee can we pleasee go to the Architecture building's toilet. Come with me please, I'm scared :( "

Haha awww thanks guys :) Apparently the surprise was suppose to happen when Sha and I came out of the toilet but uhh the candles were burning out?? Doesn't matter, I love you guys to bits, my melb fam.

...

So on Friday night, after a crazy day of beautiful texts, thoughtful wishes, a call from Darren all the way from home (aww D), lectures, rehearsals, running around getting my hair done, buying lipstick, balloons and all that jazz, I finally made it to the party (late! haha) at The Carron.

Sidenote: I will never plan a party again anytime soon. Planning's a bitch, especially when the function manager is one too.

The theme for the party was Glam Rock, so that means... Wee Lim and Ryan wore eyeliner. Haha. And WL painted his nails too.

Thanks Ryan and Sha for the speeches. Mwahhh :)

Pictures from the night.

Thanks Nicole for being the photog of the night:) And Izzie too for bringing along your cam, along with your party mix.

Biggest regret of the night: Not eating the food I ordered!!!! Ugh by the time I remembered and could get away from anything, all the food was gone!!!!!!! Nooo my seafood platter......

A night to remember. Turning the big 2-oh, and celebrating it with smiles and laughter. And some bubbly:)

Everytime it rains, i know its good to be alive

Looking back on the festive season this Dec'09/Jan'10, there was a lot to celebrate. Reunions, Christmas, welcoming the new decade, birthdays, farewells and the likes. What a great way to end a tremendous year and kick off a year that will hopefully bring on big things for us all:)

CHRISTMAS
They don't just look good, they taste good too. Secret Recipe xmas cuppies.

X'mas eve dinner with Eevon, Caca and some high school friends + their boyfs
We ate at the Jap restaurant next to Equator, they call it the jail restaurant cuz the place is set up like a prison. Err.. well the food kinda tastes like what you would serve to inmates. (Ok la, it wasn't that bad, but not what you'd want your X'mas eve meal to be like)

On a positive note, it was really amusingly cute how they served drinks in laboratory apparatus, eg. beakers, conical flasks, test tubes etc. :)

A very packed UPR, and it took forever for us to get a seat at any eatery/pub/bar.

Very soon after was Ee Von's birthday, and we celebrated with Xuan Xin dinner, karaoke at my place, a surprise at midnight and a good ol' sleepover. I don't have any of the photos from her surprise, but I'll bet she wouldn't want a pic of her in tears posted up anyway;)

Yes, please go ahead and laugh at my Disney Princesses bedsheet. I still have them and I love it okay *very defensive*

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2010

Went down to KL with the fam so I got to celebrate it with Jiah Lit+my family+family friends

Met up with Shen, Eric, Izzie and Carmen too!

Back in Penang a few days later, I had dinner + catch-up session with Ann Ting, Sherine, Ee Lynn, and Aimy before that. Its always good to just talk with them, cuz y'know...we talk a lot. And it goes on and on:) We are fascinating people ma.

WISHING SHER LYN FAREWELL

It was very bittersweet to say bye to Sher as she left for KL for her internship. It means I won't be seeing her until mid-year, and I'll miss her like crazysiaolangcrap, but at the same time I know she'll grow and learn loads there.

Went to her house two nights before she left to have a last heart-to-heart, and damn I've never laughed so hard in a really really long time. You are truly something, lao ee. Do not let other things pull you down, because I know you can do it:)  <3

Ehmagod, that looks like my hairstyle back in Standard 6.

Truly Amazed

This is my final day here in Melbourne for 2009. Leaving on the 3.40pm MAS flight back to KL then Penang.

I am done with First Year.
I am done with being a "fresher".
I am done being a 'teen' in Melbourne.

And the list goes on..

For me, this year marked so many personal milestones and so many 'firsts' that at the end of this long journey, I stand here truly amazed at how blessed I am. Peace is not a permanent state, it exists only in moments. The trick is to know when they are happening, so that we can embrace them, live in them.. and finally, let them go. Trust Derek Shepherd to get it right.

Thank you to my family, my friends in Melbs, my friends in Penang (however little I saw of you, know that I missed you guys and thought of you a lot this year), my boyfriend, as well as all the little encounters I've had this year - each and every one of you has shaped what is now one heck of a kick-ass year.

BEST. YEAR. EVER.

Well, its finally time to let this one go.

Where's My Roti Canai & Laksa?

Yay!!! My exams ended about a week ago and its been awesome+fun ever since. I spent about a week in Melbourne after my exams finished, and now I AM OFFICIALLY BACK HOME. As in,Penanggg:) But since overseas students are suppose to quarantine themselves at home for the first few days, I have nothing better to do than to upload pictures :):) So anyways, here are some pictures from the past month in Melbourne:

Aileen's 21st birthday:) She threw a mini party at Crown Promenade Hotel, and many Flarians were there. Ooh, Aileen's the one in the yummy yellow dress <3

Michele and Michelle!
Mian Mian & me.

The night before Carmen left for KL, a bunch of us went to Max Brenner's for deeeelicious chocolate treats (Shen & I shared a chocolate pizza which was sinfully-can-die yummy), followed by Singstar and Guitar Hero at Eric's afterwards (embarassing sing+dance videos were recorded)

Um..it is suppose to be 'Y-M-C-A'. HAHA.

For Alastair's birthday, Caitlin and Ryan planned a surprise dinner at *i forgot the name of the steak place*. I hope he was surprised, cuz all we did was hide behind the bar and jumped out saying 'surprrriiise' when he came in.

Caitlin and Alastair. Aww:)

Moustached women
I was so not ready for the picture yo.

On the Friday after my exams ended, we went to Seven. Very cute DJ present that night. And Wen Ting got..lucky;)

On Saturday night before Eric left, we had a pot luck at his place. It was great cuz we all got to try each other's cooking and it all tasted goood:) There was beef spaghetti, home-made mushroom soup, garlic bread, fried bee hoon, lamb rendang/special Izzie-ingredient, roti canai, fries, calamari rings and a whole lotta chicken. After eating, poker+guitar hero commenced. And of course, there's always taking pictures:)

Jun Jing, Shen, Ming Ying, Sha, Wen Ting, Me, Nicole, Joleen. Where's Izzie?

<3

Oh, and Michele cooked calamari rings + sweet & sour chicken.

*beams*

HAHA.
